Beef Cabbage Dinner

While this tasty dinner takes a little more than 30 minutes to cook, Hilda Mae Knick of Grand Island says it is definitely worth the wait.

Beef Cabbage Dinner

1 tablespoon butter or margarine

4 to 5 cups shredded cabbage

1 teaspoon caraway seed

1 pound lean ground beef

15-ounce can tomato sauce

1 medium onion, finely diced

3 cups thin-sliced potatoes

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Rye bread

Melt butter in large skillet; add cabbage and onion and mix well. Sprinkle caraway seed on top. Spread sliced potatoes on top; crumble ground beef over potatoes; sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Pour tomato sauce over ground beef; cover skillet and cook over low heat for 30 to 35 minutes or until meat is done. Keep covered and DO NOT STIR while cooking.

Serve with rye bread.
