Cajun Hamburgers

Frequest Simply Cookin’ contributor Maurice Paulk of Wood River shares this recipe for Cajun Hamburgers.

Cajun Hamburgers

2 pounds lean ground beef
1 green bell pepper, minced
1/2 cup chopped green onion (optional)
1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
3 cloves garlic, chopped fine or garlic powder, to taste
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon paprika
Red pepper flakes or seeds, to taste
4 dashes hot sauce
Salt and black pepper, to taste
6 hamburger buns, toasted
Sliced tomatoes
Sour cream

Combine the beef, green pepper, onions and garlic in a mixing bowl. Add the oregano, thyme, paprika, red pepper seeds, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Mix until blended. Shape the meat into 6 large patties. Broil, fry, or grill the meat to desired doneness. Place the hamburgers on toasted buns and top with sliced tomatoes and sour cream.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.
