Using prepared stir-fry sauce and spicy brown bean sauce (both available from House of Tsang), means this tasty dish can be ready to eat in 30 minutes.
Chinese Pepper Steak
Preparation and cooking time: 30 minutes
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound beef round or bottom round, cut into thin strips
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
1 medium red onion, cut into 1-inch square pieces
1 medium green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch square pieces
2 tablespoons spicy brown bean sauce
1 tablespoons sherry cooking wine
1 cup classic stir fry sauce
In bowl, combine cornstarch and garlic powder. Toss beef with cornstarch mixture.
In large skillet or wok, in 1 tablespoon oil, sauté beef until cooked through; remove from skillet and set aside.
In remaining oil, sauté red onion and bell pepper for 2 to 3 minutes or until crisp-tender. Add bean sauce, wine, Cantonese sauce and cooked beef. Heat until warmed through.
